Häfele UK reaches new heights for breast cancer charity

July 2015

Team members from Rugby based, design solutions specialist, Häfele UK have helped raise over £5,000 for Breast Cancer Campaign, in a series of charity mountain climbs.

Jodi Garrett and Martin Poulton from Häfele UK, joined a larger team of 16 to undertake the gruelling challenge of climbing the UK’s largest mountain, Ben Nevis, in 2014. After the first climb, Jodi and Martin were joined by fellow Häfele employees, Gareth Bevan and Graham Morritt as the team then set their sights on England’s largest mountain, Scafell Pike on Saturday 21st June. The expedition was prompted by the recovery of a cancer sufferer, a close friend of Jodi’s, who organised the trip.

Jodi said: “The challenges so far have been tough at times but Martin, Gareth, Graham and I all feel that the experience has been incredibly worthwhile and eye opening. On a personal level, it was also important for me to support my friend during her recovery process and the team and I could not have been prouder or happier to walk by her side during this challenge. Raising money for breast cancer is such a worthwhile cause and it feels amazing to have played a part in raising such a huge amount of money to help other cancer sufferers and their families.”

Despite battling adverse weather conditions, limited visibility and losing their guide half way through their trip, with a broken ankle, the group now look forward to 2016, when they aim to raise even more money in their third charity challenge.
