Häfele employees raise thousands in charity bonanza

Rugby-based design solutions specialist Häfele UK has given a considerable boost to local charities following a flurry of staff fundraising activity.

Earlier this year, Häfele entered a team into the endurance Reaper event in Coventry, which saw 40 staff members running, jumping and dragging themselves around a 10km outdoor obstacle course in aid of the staff's chosen charities, Teenage Cancer Trust and The Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance. The team's efforts raised a staggering £2670.00 in sponsorship, which was divided equally between the two charities. The event proved so successful that there are already plans afoot to enter another Reaper event in October.

A Wig Wednesday last month, which invited staff to experiment with an array of novelty hairstyles, topped up the fundraising pot with an extra £337.00 in aid of CLIC Sargent Children with Cancer.

Garry Marlow, Häfele MD, said: "We are so proud of the efforts of all of our staff members. As a business, we are always keen to support local charities through various fundraising ventures, including salary donations and sponsored activities. Hopefully the money raised through these events will go some way to supporting the work that these incredible organisations undertake."

Emily Cooper, Regional Fundraiser at West Midlands Teenage Cancer Trust, said: "Teenage Cancer Trust is delighted to have received the generous donation of £1335 from Häfele. Häfele's donation will help us continue to bring together young people living with cancer aged between 13 and 24, so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in an environment suited to them. Thank you so much for fundraising for Teenage Cancer Trust."

Stephanie Butlin, Fundraising Co-ordinator at Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance, said: "I am delighted that Häfele has raised such a fantastic amount for Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance, part of The Air Ambulance Service. It was a pleasure to meet them and to invite them all to the base, to see the helicopter and meet the crew. The funds raised will help us to continue our life saving work in the area."

Häfele presented both charities with their donations at a special presentation ceremony on Monday 9 June.
