Our Social Responsibility
Here at Häfele, social responsibility is an important part of our business, and is something our teams are committed to in their day-to-day; whether that’s when communicating with suppliers or organising charity events. Häfele UK was set up in Butler’s Leap, Rugby in 1980, to provide anyone connecting furniture in the UK with everything they need, when they need it.
Today, we operate with over 400 team members, with our headquarters and warehouses still based in Rugby. Connections remains a huge part of the Häfele business; furniture connections, community connections, industry support connections, partner connections, or connections with the local and national charities we support.
Our social initiatives cover everything from sponsoring local grass roots football and rugby clubs, to working with suppliers on their sustainability credentials, and more in between.
Häfele UK Charity Committee
Fundraising at Häfele dates back to the first year that our offices opened in Rugby, in 1980, when the team took on a sponsored bike ride for the Royal Marsden Hospital. Many other fundraising activities followed and in 2009, the Häfele Charity Committee was set up.
Each year, all staff members vote for the next Charity Partner of the Year, with the charity committee organising a calendar of events to raise money for the selected charity. In previous years, we’ve raised £20,000 for the Air Ambulance, £50,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support and £25,000 for Wish Upon a Star. In 2022, our Charity Partner of the Year was Birmingham Children’s Hospital, where we raised £30,000. This year we are now supporting Myton Hospice as our Charity Partner for 2023.
Leicester Tigers Partnership
Häfele is proud to sponsor both the Leicester Tigers Wheelchair team and the Leicester Tigers Women’s team. Through these sponsorships, we are committed to helping anyone who is interested in wheelchair or women's rugby have access to the sport.
We have been proud sponsors of Leicester Tigers wheelchair team since 2018 and in that time we’ve purchased kits for the team and vests to be sold in the club shop, with the proceeds being donated to the Leicester Tigers foundation. We’ve also purchased small-sized wheelchairs which can be taken to schools for children to experience the game for themselves.
Compliance
Quality and environmental management at Häfele is an important and integral part of our company philosophy. Not only does it ensure that our products and services are safe, reliable and of the highest quality, but it also helps us focus on minimising waste, reducing errors, increasing productivity and raising the environmental and social accountability awareness within the company and our supply chain.
Häfele UK achieved ISO 9001 accreditation originally in November 1991, ISO 14001 accreditation in April 2004, OHSAS 18001 accreditation in December 2009, and Forest Stewardship Council® Chain of Custody accreditation for the supply of products in March 2004.
We are constantly improving our Quality Management System to ensure that we meet all applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
