Wombats Hostel Case Study

The trendy Wombats youth hostel sits on the edge of the City of London, offering a contemporary and modern space in an up-and-coming part of the big smoke. The extensive refurbishment, designed by London-based architectural practice Mulroy Architects, has bought new life to the space, which was once 19th Century Seaman’s Mission.

The new design retains as much of the original fabric as possible, whilst bringing the building to the forefront of modern hostel design – style and substance entwined together to create a harmonious, trendy and relaxing environment, which still feels intimate and homely.

Häfele were proud to supply a number of fittings into this refurbishment, including 115 No. Dialock door terminals DT210 and numerous Hafele Lockerlocks. These products are all centrally managed at reception with Hafele encoders, and MDU for key cutting control.

The project also included supply of Dialock wall terminals WT140, and a GIRA keypad access control system for entrance doors for students
