Cabinet Hinges FAQs
The number of hinges per door depends on:
- Door width and height
- Door weight
- Door material.

45/9.5mm is the most popular in UK market. Other popular drilling dimensions include 48/6mm and 52/5.5mm
The required minimum gap depends on the hinge type, distance to cup and door thickness. Once the door thickness and distance to cup have been determined, the minimum gap is shown in the application table below.

Trial mounting is recommended |
The different distance heights of the mounting plates allow adjustments to be made to the door overlay. The distance is determined by the mounting plate thickness. The starting point for determining the required distance is the desired type of mounting with a defined overlay.
Once the door overlay and the distance to cup have been determined, the mounting plate height can be looked up in the application table.

Mounting plate height (mm) |
In the example the door overlay is defined at 16mm, and the distance to cup is 3mm. The mounting plate height is 0mm.

There are three different adjustments available on the hinge-mounting plate are
- Height adjustment - via mounting plates using a cam adjusting 2-part plate or slot adjustment 1-part plate, ± 2mm
- Side adjustment - on hinge arm by rotating the screw, +3mm/-0.5mm
- Depth adjustment - on hinge arm by rotating the cam adjuster screw, or, releasing the fixing screw for standard range + 4mm, -1mm
Hinges should always be cleaned with a dry cloth only. The hinges or the installation area/surface should not be clean with any chemicals or cleaning agent as this will lead to corrosion and will affect the functionality of the product.
All the hinges are either certified by FIRA Level H or TUV Level 2 quality. The certificates are available on demand.
The push to open mechanism hinges are a single function mechanism i.e. it will open the door when pressed. These should always be used with a non-sprung hinge for the best results. If they are used with the standard soft-close or non soft-close hinges, the spring in the push to open mechanism and spring inside the hinge will act against each other and the door will not pulled to zero position automatically.
Currently, the cup of hinge is fixed to the door with standard Hospa chipboard countersunk screws. The cup with pre-mounted euro screws are also available on demand
There are two options available:
- Standard mounting plate can be fixed with Hospa chipboard CSK screws
- Pre-mounted Euro Screw mounting plates
Clip-on hinges and mounting plates are easy and convenient to install with push. The door can be mounted on the cabinet with a click-clip sound.
Slide on hinges and mounting plates are installed by sliding the screw on the hinge on the slot over the mounting plate and then tightening it to secure the mounting
The opening angle restrictor are available only for Grass Nexis hinges for 170 degree hinges to reduce the opening angle to 120 degrees
With one-touch, the door can be used for push to open and soft together. Please note to use one-touch only with un-sprung hinges (example - Grass Tip-matic Hinges)
The mounting repair plates can be use to re-fix the mounting plates at the desired/worn out part of cabinet side.
