The National Key Scheme operates over 9,000 locked accessible toilets across the UK
The NKS approved keys are available to people who require use of toilet facilities due to their health condition or disability, so opens doors to independant living
Toilets fitted with the NKS locks sets are now found and specified throughout shopping centres, pubs, cafes, restaurants and public parks throughout the UK
The lock set is stainless steel to encourage architects and designers to incorporate keyed access to disabled toilets providing benefits to both security and hygiene
Over 25 years the NKS scheme has been adopted by 400+ local authorities, retail and leisure providers - a valuable resource to independent living

Return to door (RTD) shaped lever as guidance from th Equality Act

External red/white indicator and in-built coin emergency release
Internally standard lever handle operation to retract latch
Locking secured by lifting lever handle from horizontal to upright position
Access by key supplied externally only when white indicator showing
Automatic locking once the door is closed
Operation:
The door is opened from the outside, by use of the NKS key, when the external indicator is white
Once inside, the door is locked by lifting the lever upwards
To exit, the door is opened by pushing the lever down
Interchangeable:
The NKS lock can be operated with all current NKS approved keys
The NKS lock set comes with mortice lock included and can be retro-fitted

Lever handles are handed to reduce the impact on the locking mechanism from abuse and to ensure complete retraction of the latch bolt
If the incorrect hand is fitted the mechanism will not lock when the handle is pushed upwards
