Who are the Leicester Tigers?
Founded in 1880, the Leicester Tigers are a professional rugby club based in Leicester, England. The team play in the rugby premiership; England’s top division of rugby. Since 1892, the Leicester Tigers have played their home matches at the Mattioli Woods Welford Road stadium in the south of the city. Since at least 1885, the club has been known by the nickname “Tigers”. Find out more here.
How we support
Häfele are proud sponsors of the Leicester Tigers Wheelchair team and Women’s team.
As sponsor of the Leicester Tigers Wheelchair Team, we’re committed to helping anyone who is interested in playing the sport have the right equipment and kit to participate, regardless of background or previous experience. Since the sponsorship started in 2018, we’ve helped purchase kits for all the team, vests to be sold in the shop with the funds going towards helping support the foundation and small-sized wheelchairs to be taken around to schools to raise awareness of the sport and let children experience the game for themselves.
In 2022, we were also proud to announce our sponsorship of the Leicester Tigers Women’s team. The team is important for the development of the players and allowing women to participate and represent Tigers at one of Rugby’s great stadiums. It’s also vital to inspire young and upcoming players of the future to participate in women’s rugby. We look forward to our continued support of the team.

Short Story | Rob Tarr
"My name is Rob Tarr and I'm the Chairman of the Leicester Tigers Wheelchair Rugby Club. Being part of the Leicester Tigers Wheelchair Rugby Club is such an honour for all of our members and having the support network from the Leicester Tigers foundation and our sponsors Häfele gives the players the financial stability and recognition to surpass all of their limitations in a safe, friendly family environment."
Short Story | Kieran Flynn
"My name is Kieran Flynn and I play in the Leicester Tigers Wheelchair Rugby Team as a 2.0 player. I've been a part of the team for 4 years now and since joining the team I have been selected for Great Britain’s development squad, captained that squad and this year have made my debut for Great Britain, playing in two tournaments so far, the European Championships and the Canada Cup."
Short Story | Nick Cummins
"My name is Nick Cummins. I’m a 1.5 classification player for the Leicester Tigers Wheelchair Rugby Club and Great Britain. I’ve been part of the Tigers WRC since it was established and I have won two league titles with the team. I have also won two European championships and a Paralympic gold medal with Great Britain. Earlier this year, I completed a PhD in History at the University of Leicester."
Our Sponsorship Begins
Our sponsorship began with Leicester Tigers in 2018 with the wheelchair team.
New Kits Purchased
In 2019 we purchased new kits for the wheelchair team whilst providing vests to be sold in the shop, supporting the Leicester Tigers Foundation.
School Chairs Provided
In 2020, we provided funding for small wheelchairs to be taken around schools to help raise awareness of the sport.
Vests Purchased for Shop Sale
In 2021 we purchased vests to be sold in the shop, supporting the Leicester Tigers Foundation.
Women’s Team Sponsorship
In 2022, we officially became sponsor of the Leicester Tigers Women’s team.
